I’m Portos Wang, currently working in clinical research at an IVD company, where my main duty is wrestling with data—sometimes I win. I earned my Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the College of Animal Science at Jilin University, specializing in pharmacology and drug efficacy.
Since 2016, after being dazzled by countless flashy data plots, I fell in love with processing data and turning it into gorgeous visualizations. That’s why I genuinely enjoy my current job. Sadly, I’m still not brave enough to call myself a “data scientist”—at least not without air quotes.
For the first thirty years of my life, my brain often drifted toward random interests that appeared out of nowhere. Unfortunately, none of them lasted long. I always dreamed of mastering things “in full,” but every grand plan collapsed halfway like a poorly designed bridge.
After getting married, I suddenly realized the best way to learn is simple: solve one problem at a time and reflect on the process— What did I do? Why did I do it? How did I make it work?
This is my one true hobby, and unless the universe has other plans, I’ll probably keep it up for the next ten years… or more.
